get into the reverb with surfer blood at beerland

hot off their appearances at CMJ and resulting new york times feature, surfer blood will be stopping by beerland wednesday night. as hyped as they may be at the moment, it's well deserved - they're a hardworking group and you can't deny that the music is great. they describe themselves as "anthemic, bombastic, life-affirming indie pop," and while i don't know if "bombastic" is necessarily the word i'd choose, "hook-laden," "catchy as hell," and "lovely and occasionally triumphant melodies" hit a little closer to the mark. it should be a good one.

it's also max from beerland's birthday, which is a good excuse in its own right to come out. buy the man a beer!

11/4: Wednesday at Beerland (21+)
Surfer Blood
Cowabunga Babes
Shitty Beach Boys (not just a clever name?)
The Zoltars
